The Neighbourhood

Bayridge, above Burrard Inlet

Burkehill Place is a short cul-de-sac — about seventy-five metres of road — off Bayridge Avenue, on the uphill side of Marine Drive between the Sandy Cove waterfront and Caulfeild. The street sits around 100 m above sea level with the shoreline roughly half a kilometre south, which is what gives the house its south-facing outlook over Burrard Inlet. Caulfeild Village — Safeway, the liquor store, a bank, a pharmacy and the medical and dental clinics — is about five minutes away, with Rockridge Secondary directly across Headland Drive from it. Lighthouse Park, seventy-five hectares of old-growth coastal forest around Point Atkinson, is a six-minute drive west.
